New Diet And Exercise Routine
Let's take a look at how you can stick to your new diet and exercise routine when eating out or traveling.
It's not that difficult when eating out and you're watching your weight. Most restaurants offer a variety of salads and vegetables. Add these to a chicken breast or another source of protein, and you've got a great, healthy meal. Start your meal with a large salad (preferably without any dressing), or a bowl of soup (not creamy) and you can't go wrong.
Look for appetizer alternatives that are low in fats and carbohydrates, and high in protein, like prawn cocktail or steamed mussels. And if you decide to have dessert (which you should rarely do unless it's fresh fruit), split it with your dinner partner.
Regardless of where you eat, make sure to drink lots of water.
For a little extra 'zing', ask your waiter to add a slice of lemon or lime to your glasses of water, or ask for sparkling water.
As for your lifestyle away from the restaurant…No matter where you are, and how much or how little time you have, working in a little stretching, cardio, and ab work is easy. If you can't take a brisk walk around the block, try jogging on the spot to music, or try cycling, or just lay on the floor and do some crunches followed by a few push-ups. The whole idea is to make a healthy lifestyle work for you.
Exercise can be achieved by swimming in a hotel pool, working out with an exercise DVD or going on a lengthy hike with friends. Other activities, such as skiing, kayaking and rollerblading, count
as exercise, so give one of these new activities a try.
And never forget to train your brain!!! Focus on your goal body. Think about what you'll look like once you've reached your goal. Hold that image in your head several times each and every day. In
fact, here's some motivation for you…
By now, you know you can do your morning or evening exercises anywhere. The same goes for your ab work. If you've come to rely on an Exercise ball or bands, try doing crunches without
them. Packing your bands is easy because they fit just about anywhere, so this is always a great on-the-go alternative.
If you have a busy day, and simply cannot work in your exercise, take a couple of 15-minute walks and stretch. This will help keep you focused on all the daily work on your plate that day, and will enable you to get some of the important exercise your body now counts on. And, don't forget to keep your bottle of water handy.
Hopefully you can see how a few simple, easy-to-implement choices can change your life for the better. By making these healthier choices, including a commitment to exercise and a better diet, you're improving yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally.
