Goal setting

Hey everyone, hope you all had a great Christmas with your families and friends. It doesn't matter if you over indulged a bit. The big lunch or dinner is over now and we can all get back on track with our health goals... so here we go. The new year is just around the corner, but why wait till January 1st, we can do good stuff for our bodies NOW!.

1.  Have a Plan
Quite possibly the biggest mistake people make is trying to do too much too soon.  You can’t lose 20 pounds in a week. But you can lose one. Take baby steps.

2.  Get It On Paper
Whether setting your first goals, tracking daily progress, or sharing your deepest thoughts with a journal, writing things down crystallizes and clarify s your ideas, and paints an accurate picture of what you really want.

3.  Focus on your daily habits
A healthy lifestyle is created in the smallest of actions you take every day and every week. Healthy choices can become as natural as brushing your teeth or driving your car. You start doing them without thinking after a while.

4.  Visualize Your Goal
This step is so important. You need to visualize the end result and keep that picture at the forefront of your mind.  Keep reminders of your goal in as many places as you can so you can see what you are going to create.

5.  Be Consistent
Consistency is very powerful. A  small change daily is better than making a big list of things you want to change all at once. One thing at a time. Master one healthy habit at a time.

6.  Never Stop Learning
This step I absolutely love. I think I'm a learning junkie... I can't get enough. A healthy lifestyle is a process—a journey more than a destination. You can always learn more about nutrition, fitness, and even yourself that can help you be just a little bit better tomorrow.

7.  Get the Help You Need
No one achieved anything of real value all alone?. Most people need  help from other people. Support, information,  encouragement, advice, and a well-timed pep talk are all invaluable tools to help you reach your goals. Put it this way- you could do it by yourself but it would take you a lot longer instead, get the help you need.

8.  Allow For Setbacks
Setbacks will happen. We're only human. Accept the fact right now that you will make mistakes, and that it can be a positive thing. Don't beat yourself up. Pick yourself up so to speak and keep going, and don't forget to give yourself little rewards along the way... preferably not with high calorie food.

9.  Trust Your Plan
You’ll have up weeks and down weeks, and frustrating weeks that make no sense at all. The tools and strategies you’re learning will help you build a plan that makes a healthier lifestyle almost inevitable. If you consistently make the right choices and build healthy habits, weight loss is literally just a matter of time.

10.  Have Fun!!!
Getting healthy does not have to be a chore. You will be the person with more energy and vitality. This is an exciting journey of self-discovery. Be the best you can be. I know you can.

To your fantastic health in 2012
